It was a warm sunny day, and my family and I were at a local book market. I always wait faithfully for this day because all books are typically sold for $1 or $1.50 for hardcovers. As I strolled between the tables of a certain bookseller, I ended up picking up an animal encyclopedia from the 70's. My mom, who is the original lover of whales, picked up a book about whales. I didn't pay it any mind at the moment, but that book would later change my life.
One particular summer I was very bored. I wandered around my house looking for something fresh to read, and my eyes stumbled on that book my mom purchased. It's title was The Whale: Mighty Monarch of the Sea by Jacques Costeau. I wasn't super interested in at first, but always having a life-long interest in marine biology, I pushed through anyway. Wow, am I glad that I did. I finished that book with a newfound interest in whales, and cetaceans in general. I had never really thought about whales so much before, but I finished that book with a new appreciation for them. And, like any other individual, I delved deep into the world of whales. I consumed every bit of content on them I could find. I watched whale documentaries on YouTube, read books about them, and even bought little trinkets bearing their image.
Whales bring me immense joy! I would say that they're my "special interest", I believe that's the terminology for it. Whales are very beautiful animals. They're very forgiving and so mysterious. I like how mysterious they are. It makes me wonder just what goes on in those huge brains of theirs. My biggest dream in life is to study them. At the moment of writing this, my personal website isn't set up yet, but I have plans on becoming a veterinarian. But, I'd like to become an expert in cetacean anatomy, so that we can better understand how they function. If we know how cetaceans function, we can better understand how climate change and other environmental impacts are harming them.
Anyway! I love whales, and I want them to be around forever. A lot of cetacean species are constantly in danger! I hope to use this website to open people's eyes to the beauty of whales, and to hopefully encourage you to help further their conservation efforts. Some people may not find them as cute as seals or otters, but I think they're absolutely beautiful. Cetaceans are a major part of the ecosystem, and they contribute so much to the health of our oceans. While I do have some information on my page, I strongly encourage you to read the books I recommend or watch some videos on them yourself! Thank you for visiting my page, and reading my rambling!
